Programs Overview

Through educational programs and convenings the Foundation engages stakeholders, informs dialogue, and maintains visibility of the most pressing challenges facing the health care system.  Our events and convenings take place throughout the year and are free and open to the public. They assemble stakeholders from government, advocacy, academia and the provider community to discuss health care issues. Our two cohort-based educational programs, the Massachusetts Community Health Leadership Institute and the Health Coverage Fellowship, are designed for Massachusetts-based professionals who have a role in communicating and leading in the health care space.

The Foundation hosts in-person and virtual events based on learnings from policy and grant projects.  These free convenings aim to provide our audience with data, research, and program and policy recommendations.

MICHL is an opportunity for emerging leaders in a variety of public health and health care settings in Massachusetts to participate in leadership development with a cohort of professionals who are experiencing many of the same challenges, demands, and benefits of this work. Each cohort spends nine-months learning from expert facilitators and then join an active alumni group for ongoing educational sessions.

The Health Coverage Fellowship

The Health Coverage Fellowship was founded in 2002 by the Foundation in order to to help Massachusetts newspaper, radio, television, and online reporters and editors do a better job covering critical health care issues. Now a national program hosted by the Harvard School of Public Health, the Foundation supports two Massachusetts journalists for the intensive nine days and nights of training.
