Social Equity and Health provides grants for up to two years to human service organizations to demonstrate the impact of their social services on the health of their clients, or if possible, health care costs. Academic literature shows that environment, behavioral, and particularly social factors play a significant role in the health of our population. The goal of these analyses will be to identify greater synergies between the health care and social services fields, with an eye toward supporting an advocacy and policy agenda focused on payment options for social services. Ultimately, the hope is that these analyses will yield results that can be shared with policymakers, public insurers, and other health care leaders, and may influence decisions and policies regarding payment of non-medical services.
