Asian Women for Health (AWFH) is a peer-led, community-based network dedicated to advancing Asian women’s health and wellbeing through education, advocacy, and support. Asian Women for Health will work to strengthen its internal capacity to promote and sustain systematic solutions towards accessible, affordable, and equitable healthcare practice. The organization will work to implement the new Data Equity law by organizing community events and working with stakeholders. In addition, AWFH will advocate for language access and inclusion policies that address language barriers for residents with limited English proficiency from accessing state services, programs and information.   

Pioneer Valley Workers Center builds collective power its constituents through grassroots organizing. Pioneer Valley Workers Center will enhance its capacity to lead campaigns for racial justice and worker access to good health and health care. It will also purchase (in combination with other funds) training on supervision and mentorship, meeting facilitation, new workplan system. It will strengthen three-year organizational plan for campaigns and membership development and will train and improve bilingual systems of financial oversight for Board and staff.

The Somali Development Center helps to develop the capacity of individuals and families to be self-sufficient through educational and social services. The program will equip the Somali Development Center to catalyze a new stage of growth by enhancing capacity to build campaigns and advocacy tools to advance racial justice in health. It will focus on the importance of oral health for refugees – working towards cross-cultural and patient centered health care.   

La Colaborativa is a trusted partner to Latinx immigrants in Chelsea and surrounding areas with a mission to empower community members to enhance the social and economic health of the community and its people; and to hold institutional decisionmakers accountable to the community. La Colaborativa will build on its distinct, culturally relevant, community-based approach to promote community health and advocate for systems change. La Colaborativa will continue to expand its health advocacy work to improve health equity and expand coverage and access – specifically for immigrants, regardless of documentation status. 

Brookview House is a Black and Latinx women-led community-based agency working for justice, equity, and systemic change for low-income families. Through a two-generation, culturally responsive approach, Brookview provides housing with on-site programs to improve health, educational achievement, and economic stability. Brookview will develop and implement a grassroots community engagement campaign that identifies the intersection of substance use and oral health and the impact on young people – including a social media component. They will also work to increase the health advocacy skills and build grassroots power of the Brookview Youth Advisory Board.
