BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF MASSACHUSETTS FOUNDATION AWARDS $96,716

TO STUDY FISHING PARTNERSHIP, ANALYZE ORAL HEALTH DISPARITIES

BOSTON—July 20, 2004—Are the lessons from an innovative program that promotes health insurance for the fishing industry transferable to other small businesses in Massachusetts? Are uninsured children disproportionately affected by dental decay in non-fluoridated communities, and are low-income communities less likely to have fluoridated water? This week, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation awarded $96,716 to two organizations for policy research to address these questions, and more broadly, to advance its mission to expand access to health care for the uninsured and low-income in the Commonwealth.
