Health Care Disparities

From 2008 through 2011, Closing the Gap on Health Care Disparities grants supported coalitions across Massachusetts seeking to reduce health disparities on the basis of race, ethnicity, immigration status, age, mental illness, and sexual orientation. Funds supported models that strengthened community-voice in the planning process, shifted clinical practice and effectiveness, and increased public awareness about disparities and the social determinants of health.

From 2005 through 2008,  Closing the Gap on Health Care Disparities grants supported nonprofit health care organizations across the state in an effort to reduce racial and ethnic health care disparities in Massachusetts on the basis of race, ethnicity, immigration status, age, mental illness, and sexual orientation.  Funds supported initiatives that took a comprehensive and innovative approach to improving access and reducing barriers to health care and support services for racial and ethnic minorities.
